When was the last time you felt seen and held exactly as you are? On Wednesday, March 26, we’ll reconnect to ourselves, each other, and the Earth in this heart-opening afternoon for the queer and trans communities.
We’ll start by connecting to the Earth, orienting ourselves to time, space, and nature in a guided ritual. Then we’ll share a cup of cacao, a sacred plant and medicine in Meso- and South America (served here in a non-traditional context)*. Along with chemicals that produce oxytocin and improve blood flow, this helps cacao open our hearts to the Earth, its creatures, and our ancestors.
From this place, we’ll connect with ourselves through a guided journaling exercise about what it means to be seen, and the ways we’ve experienced this. We’ll call upon our guides and parts of self to inform and support us in this journey, then come together for a group discussion where we bear witness to all that needs to be seen and reflected or reframed. Finally, we’ll continue our journeys in creative space: dancing, singing, socializing, making art, or whatever you choose.
Whether these medicines and modalities are familiar or brand new, this space is for you. Feeling good in your body and safe in belonging is your birthright—so let’s make the space we want to see, and witness our queer and trans selves coming home.
Pay what you can donation; if it’s zero, contact me. Bring a journal and whatever you need to feel comfortable; we will have some writing supplies on hand for those in need.
Registration requested as space is limited, but there will be some places at the door.
*Sustainably sourced from an Indigenous women’s cooperative where producers receive more than Fair Trade rates, made by traditional methods. As additional reciprocity, a portion of ticket sales will be donated to Popoljay, an Indigenous-owned organization in Guatemala dedicated to preserving and passing down Maya tradition, knowledge, and practice.
